Bob Milek was bron December 22, 1934, in Thermopolis, Wyoming. He attended the University of Wyoming and Utah State University. He worked for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and Ohio-Marathon Oil Company. He was also a big game guide and outfitter. Publications for which Milek wrote include "Rifle," "The American Hunter," "Cord Sportfacts Hunting," "Issues in Outdoor Recreation," "Field and Stream," "Sports Afield," "American Rifleman," "Wyoming Wildlife," "Handloader," "Lyman Reloading Manual," "Guns and Ammo Gunlore," "Deer Hunting," and "In Wyoming." He was a contributing editor for "Shooting Times," field editor for "Guns and Ammo Magazine," and western field editor for "Hunting Magazine." He and his wife, Dorothy Milek, raised five children in Thermopolis, Wyoming.
