Biographical and Professional Information

Buck Tilton, MS, has authored or co-authored 26 books, his Wilderness First Responder receiving an award for excellence from the American Medical Writers Association. More than 1,000 magazine articles have appeared with his byline, and he has written a column for Backpacker since 1989. He has been honored with the Paul Petzoldt Award for excellence in wilderness education and the Warren Bowman Award for contributions to wilderness medicine. He co-founded the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS and travels around the world teaching. He lives in Lander with his wife Kathleen, his son Zach, and his daughter Bo.
