Biographical and Professional Information

Renée Askins became fascinated with wolves in college. After graduation, from 1981 to 1985, she lived in Jackson, Wyoming, and worked with biologist John Weaver, who was working on wolf reintroduction. Before she left Wyoming, she held a fund raiser to establish the Wolf Fund for the sole purpose of reintroducing wolves to Yellowstone National Park. Wolves were reintroduced to the park in 1995, and in 2002 she published “Shadow Mountain,” her memoir of the struggle to return wolves to the Yellowstone ecosystem
