Biographical and Professional Information

Wendell H. Crow was born in 1914 in Campbell, Missouri. He was a 1939 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and worked in the newspaper field as a reporter at the St. Louis Star Times, was co-publisher of the "Thermopolis Independent Record," publisher of the "Siloam Springs Standard" in Arkansas, and publisher of the "Clay County Democrat" in Arkansas from 1954-1977. After retirement, he wrote a column, "The Retired Renegade" for the paper. Mr. Crow received a first place community service award from the National Newspaper Association and several awards from the Arkansas Press Association. He was recipient in 1975 of the Greene-Clay Bar Association's first annual Liberty Bell Award. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had four children. Mr. Crow died on February 3, 1984.
